【Regulation】Implementation of EU ETS for shipping makes progress //Update on 10 Jan. 2024//

From January 2024, as you may be aware, the EU-ETS will be implemented in the maritime industry.

The directive on the EU-ETS system came into effect on June 5, 2023. However, many details remain unclear, and it has been widely reported from various sources that implementation regulations (guidelines) to clarify these aspects are expected to be announced around October of this year.

We would like to inform you that these implementation regulations were approved by the European Climate Change Committee in October 2023, as indicated on the EU's website.

① laying down rules for the application of Directive 2003/87/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the administration of shipping companies by administering authorities in respect of a shipping company
