A new version, version3.1 of RightShip Inspection Ship Questionnaire(RISQ), which is used for DryBulk Inspection (which is often called 'RightShip Inspection') has been released. RightShip plan to implement this new RISQ in mid-September 2024.
There are 56 changes in total, incorporating newly effective and revised regulations and industry standards. The main additional items as follows;
- EPL (Engine Power Limit) override functions, crew familiarization, etc.
- handling of Ballast Water Management Plan/Record Book and Familiarization Training for crews on handling of Ballast Water.
- SEEMP Part III and CII Rating
- response to EGCS (Exhaust Gas Cleaning System) failure
- Sewage Treatment System
- sections on handling alternative fuels (methanol, ammonia) (Section 7C, 7D)
- proper updating of Loading Instrument and Stability Booklet in case of modifications (Scrubber, BWTS retrofit, hull structure changes, etc.) that would change the weight of the vessel.
- details regarding mooring rope certificates; RightShip recommends a Type Approval Certificate from an IACS member as the certificate for mooring ropes (rather than mill certificate or certificate of conformity issued by the rope manufacture)
All changes are listed on Annex A of the Questionnaire, and you can download the Questionnaire from below link for free.

RISQ requirements are a mixture of those derived from conventions and regulations and those derived from industry standards, and while it is up to each company to determine the extent to which RISQ requirements are incorporated into their management procedures, the Questionnaire reflects the latest convention and regulation requirements. We recommend that you check the Questionnaire for any changes.
////Update on Sep. 24th////
