On August 14, 2024, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a “public health emergency of international concern” regarding the spread of MPOX.
The following organizations and ports have been notified of the MPOX outbreak, and as of August 26, there have been no reports of crew changes or problems with vessels entering port, but we urge caution regarding the health of crew members, especially when vessels are calling at ports in areas where the outbreak has spread.

Notification at Kandla and other ports in Gujarat. In case of suspected infection, quarantine measures and self-checklist are required. The checklist includes travel history to MPOX infected areas within the past 21 days. The infected areas include South Africa, Cameroon, Nigeria, etc. at this time.
Bangladesh
Notice at Chittagong. Checklists must be submitted upon arrival at the port.

Uruguay
Vessels calling Uruguayan ports from Africa with crew members who have symptoms of fever are required to be examined by a doctor on board the vessel.

Argentina.
News reports indicate that one vessel is suspected of being infected with Mpox and that additional quarantine of the vessel has caused delays in the movement of the vessel.
