Vessel detentions in Indonesian waters

Since 2019, vessel detentions by Indonesian navy has been occurred  because of  illegal anchoring /passage in Indonesian waters.

Recently GARD has updated its alert that recent cases seem to indicate there is an increased focus on vessels anchored off Bintan Island and other Riau Islands by Indonesian Navy.

P&I clubs recommend owners that when ships intend to anchor such areas, owners should contact local agent and get clearance for anchoring, to prevent such detentions.
