As we have informed in this article, ships calling states of California shall comply with 'At Berth Regulation' after 1 Jan. 2023.
We briefly introduce about the regulation.
1.Summary
Under this regulation, all ocean going vessels must report each vessel visit within 30 days of departure, and specific type of ships must meet emission controls compliance. Such specific requirements for emission control at the states of California is know as 'CARB'. (CARB:California Air Resources Board)

| 1 Jan. 2023 | container, refrigerated cargo vessels and cruise(passenger) vessels |
| 1 Jan. 2025 | roll-on roll off vessels and tanker vessels that visit the ports of Los Angels or Long Beach |
| 1 Jan. 2027 | all remaining tanker vessels |
There are some certified ways by CARB to comply with this emission control requirement and operators can choose either way for their ships. However, most of the operators choose to use AMP(Alternate Maritime Power), which ships use Shore Power while at berth as it is practical way at the moment.
